102nd General Assembly: It’s time to address challenges

Senator Brian Stewart says the convening of the 102nd General Assembly is the time for lawmakers to put aside divisive partisan rhetoric and work together to address the challenges facing Illinois.

The 45th District Senator participated in inaugural ceremonies in the Senate Chambers January 13. He has served in the Senate since December 2018, and in the House of Representatives from October 2013 to December 2018.

“The convening of a new General Assembly signals a new start. It’s time for lawmakers to set aside partisan differences, the divisive ‘us against them’ mindset, and work together to address the many challenges facing our state,” Stewart said. “Years of bad policy-making and sketchy budgeting, combined with increasingly partisan debate, have left our state weak. The decisions before us are tough unless we view them as opportunities to set our state on a better course.”

Senator Stewart says bipartisan pension reform, balanced budgets, and common-sense economic growth initiatives should be immediate priorities to help boost jobs and bring economic prosperity to Illinois communities.

The 45th District includes all or part of Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties. Stewart’s district legislative offices are located at Stewart Centre, 50 W. Douglas St., Suite 1001, Freeport, IL  61032 (815-232-0774); and at 105 E. First St., Suite 110, Dixon, IL  61021 (815-284-0045). His e-mail address is brian@senatorstewart.com and his Web site is https://senatorstewart.com/.
