Sen. Stewart to host free in-person events in November: Medicare Nov. 4, Secretary of State Nov. 9, Listening Tour Nov. 16

FREEPORT – State Sen. Brian Stewart (R-Freeport) will host three free in-person community events to help constituents learn more about the federal Medicare program on Nov. 4, provide Mobile Secretary of State Unit services on Nov. 9, and talk with constituents about their state government concerns on Nov. 16.

Facilitated by the Illinois Senior Health Insurance Program, the Medicare 101 program offers information about eligibility, coverage, help with out-of-pocket expenses, and open enrollment. New and current beneficiaries are welcome. The event is scheduled for Nov. 4, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Freeport Public Library, 100 E. Douglas St. in Freeport.

The Mobile Driver Services Facility is scheduled on Nov. 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the State Bank Community Room, 1005 Cameron Drive in Durand. Services provided by the Illinois Secretary of State’s office at the Mobile Driver Services Facility include: renewal/correction of driver’s licenses for persons younger than 75, obtaining a state ID, purchasing license plate stickers. NO REAL IDs. Senior citizens ages 75 and older will need to visit a permanent Department of Motor Vehicles facility to renew their driver’s licenses. Proper identification will be needed for all services. Checks or charge cards only. Face coverings must be worn and social-distancing rules must be followed.

Stewart is also encouraging area residents to attend an in-person regional town hall event he is hosting on Nov. 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1279 Franklin Grove Road in Dixon. Attendees are asked to RSVP at .

“Ever get the feeling no one is listening? Or that the Springfield power brokers have forgotten they are supposed to represent your best interests, not their own? Well, you are not alone. We understand your frustration, because we know first-hand that those currently in charge are not listening to our concerns,” Stewart said. “Let your voices be heard at this in-person town hall event in Dixon.”

Stewart will be joined by his colleagues State Sen. Dave Syverson of Rockford, State Sen. Sue Rezin of Morris, and State Sen. Win Stoller of Germantown Hills. They are touring the region seeking to gain a better understanding of issues faced by communities and residents of northern Illinois.

For more information about any of these events, call Sen. Stewart’s office at 815-284-0045.
